About Learning Japanese - 1 month into the process!
FINALLY!!!
I've always wanted to learn Japanese, but somehow only managed to start this year. When I was in high school, my mom persuaded me to go for French instead and I did for three years, except I don't remember anything besides Bonjour or Merci now.
I'm a big Kore-eda fan and it is my dream to work with him one day. I might get there in 40 years or never, but I figured I already missed my chance with Miyazaki I better take Kore-eda seriously NOW.
So that's why I'm learning Japanese.
My native language is Chinese Mandarin. Consider how the two languages are related and the cultural similarities, one would imagine that it'll be easier to tackle Japanese in Chinese.
But I simply can't wait. And honestly I don't have the time to.
So far I'm doing just fine in my classes. Speaking is definitely the most challenging part because I don't yet have much material to work with. And I'm starting to lose track of certain characters, like "て" and "で"... I can foresee the difficulties ahead already, but I genuinely enjoy my classes. I study film but Japanese is my favorite class. Yup. =..=
Looking forward, I'm super excited about the prospect of being able to watch Japanese films without subtitles, reading Japanese books and just ordering food in Japanese! Maybe I won't get to do all of them just after this semester, but one day, one day...
I just saw the movie "Shoplifters" this summer. It is sooo good. I also watched another Kore-eda movie before called “Our Little Sister”. I think he is great and hope you can work with him one day! good luck!!!
返信削除I can definitely relate when it comes to learning a new language in highschool because I took Spanish for 3 years and only thing I remember is Gracias. Film studies seems like a way cooler major than mine and I hope to see your on the big theater some day
返信削除Hahaha what's your major? Film is actually not as cool as it sounds. A LOT of dirty work =..=
